Hello, friends! Last weekend was the first ever Southern California Yarn Crawl. For those who don't know, it's basically a big weekend event that encourages people to go out and visit as many local yarn stores as possible. There are lots of events and door prizes to make it fun. Not to mention lots of yarn (we here are RNSL are big knitters). As part of the festivities, Unwind Yarns in Burbank, CA hosted Mac Barnett and Jon Klassen, the team behind the wonderful new children's picture book Extra Yarn.
Our very own Alethea along with friends from Bridge To Books were on hand during the event to help out. There were cake pops and drinks and Alethea even knit the letters for Extra Yarn. I did the houses which were way easier. :)

The event started off with a reading of the book by Mia. Mia was a great reader and put a lot of personality into the reading.
Next, Mac and Jon drew with the kids and signed books. Mac also ended up reading the book again later in the day for people who missed Mia's reading. If you want to see a video clip of Mac's reading, head over to Aly''s blog to see it (it's worth looking at).

Cake was eaten, books signed, and fun was had by all. It was a really fun event and it was so cool to see the mix of knitters picking up the book and book people learning about knitting and yarn. It was two worlds colliding in the best possible way. If you haven't checked out Extra Yarn yet, you must! A sweet, funny, and magical story; it has something for everyone. Thanks for hanging in there and getting to the bottom of this post. If you were there, we'd love to hear your thoughts on the event. If you weren't we'd still love to see your comments. If you want to see more photos, please visit our flickr set for the event. Have a wonderful weekend!
