The Best Book Ever Giveaway Hop (US ends 6/10)

My most favorite books ever are High Fantasy. If you check out this list from The Best Books Ever, you'll see my favorite at the top. (Remember to come back and enter the giveaway!)

Poison Study is full of action, magic, and romance. It's a strangely hopeful story of a young woman discovering her strength and identity. And let's face it, Maria V. Snyder is my favorite author--she's the first one I really made friends with and I'm so excited whenever she releases a new book!

The winner can also pick from my other favorite high fantasy books (Book 1 is listed first):

Magic Study or Fire Study by Maria V. Snyder
Shadow & Bone or Siege & Storm by Leigh Bardugo
Graceling or Fire by Kristin Cashore
Incarceron or Sapphique by Catherine Fisher
The Name of the Wind or The Wise Man's Fear by Patrick Rothfuss

The winner can choose 1 book of up to $15 in value from the titles above. US only. Ends 6/10/2013.

You can read our contest policy here. Please use the Rafflecopter widget and DO NOT leave your email in the comments section! Remember to check out all the other blogs on the hop for more "best book" recommendations and giveaways!

  1. Thanks for the giveaway! I love Shadow and Bone of course, but I also love the Clockwork Angel series by Cassandra Clare if that counts as high fantasy. ;)

  9. That is not an easy question to answer. And it makes it a little more difficult because I am not entirely sure I know the exact meaning of "high fantasy". I think it means a book set in an alternate/imagined universe. So, I will go with that. And the nominees are:

1-Under the Never Sky series by Veronica Rossi
    2-Unspoken by Sarah Rees Brennan
    3-Vessel by Sarah Beth Durst
4-The Demon Trappers series by Jana Oliver
5-Shadows Cast by Stars by Catherine Knuttson
6-The Treachery of Beautiful Things by Ruth Frances Long

and last on this absolutely unfinished list is (drum roll please.......)
The Lord of the Rings trilogy!

  10. Hi Jaime! Great picks there. High fantasy is more like swords + horses, no-tech or low-tech world. In this way my Catherine Fisher recommendation leans a bit more to sci-fi than the rest of my recommendations. If you have a contemporary setting with magic/supernatural elements it's paranormal fantasy; if you have a futuristic setting with undesirable qualities it's dystopian.

So going by their descriptions (I haven't read them, I might reclassify after I do) then Under the Never Sky and Shadows Cast by Stars are dystopian, Unspoken and Demon Trappers are paranormal, and Vessel & The Treachery of Beautiful Things are high fantasy. Phew!

Thanks so much for sharing these!

  22. Hmm . . . I'm having a hard time thinking of High Fantasy books I've read right now, although I know I've read several. One sereis I loved, though, was the Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini.
